Dr Mark Wilson


Mark is the main avian postdoctoral researcher on the BIOFOREST project, and is based at UCC. The subject of his PhD was parental care and the reproductive ecology of willow warblers (University of Sheffield, October 2000). Experience of bird surveying includes employment with the RSPB, carrying out surveys of upland breeding birds (Sutherland, Scotland, April-July 2000) and preliminary analysis of the data collected (Edinburgh, March-April 2001); participation in several bird-surveying expeditions (Peru 2000; Tanzania 1998; India 1995); and a project relating estimates of songbird abundance to the occupation of sparrowhawk territories in Edinburgh, Honours project of a BSc in Ecological Science (Edinburgh 1992-1996). He was president of Edinburgh University's BirdSoc (1994-1995), and has extensive experience of birding and bird-ringing.
